As the editor of the Times said at the beginning of the lockdown (paraphrasing) the news media are the 4th emergency service bringing the truth to the nation.[1]

The BBC are only fulfilling this brief by reporting all the trivial crap on the virus they can find 24/7. Its all made worse by not being able to cover live sports. Its only going to get a lot worse - no wall to wall coverage of Wimbledon or the Olympics in the next few months.

With no rugby or cricket or tennis, frankly there is no reason to watch the BBC. All the drama is right on crap, the comedians are PC rather than funny,and I have had all the LBGTfeminazi propaganda I can stomach without throwing up.

I listen to ClassicFM which is undemanding and has the odd news bulletin for anything really important.

I have pointed out before that all they need do is broadcast the footage from the Olympics last time. No one will notice the difference. In fact they could use the same footage every four years and save the world billions.

People might twig the presence of Usain Bolt though :-)

I neither know nor care. All I know is that athletic events, like running or cycling races, are unmitigated bore. Even thinking about them causes ... zzzzzzzz

Given you are at least now trying to mark your stuff OT: (and we know you can use capitals), I thought the whole point of d-i-y and having a RA hobby is that you would always be occupied and not get fed up with anything?

Who cares about celebs in any case.

You don't need to watch the web cams.

You don't need to look at their rooms.

You don't need to be grateful for those putting their lives at risk for others (not what they signed up for in most cases).

And it's obvious you won't 'be told' what to do in any case so why cry about it now?

If as a kid I ever whispered I was bored or 'fed up' I'd be reminded how lucky I was (and I was).

It's generally only kids or those not fully able to be mindful (that generally requires empathy) that ever whine about just how bad the entertainment is they are being given.

If I didn't buy another thing I'd have more things to do than I have years left to do them in, and that's the things that need 'doing', rather than just using like sailing or cycling etc.

Never stopped people volunteering their services for free to the RNLI though.

No Rod, and in many other roles (like mountain rescue) ... but there is some expectation of loss of life whilst doing it with those.

I wouldn't think 'most' hospital cleaners and care workers, especially those in care homes, shop workers or lorry drivers would consider their job to have a significant risk of death, even when paid to do such.
