Problem fitting flange, Please Help

Apr 10, 2004 3 Replies

Hi All,

I'm putting in a power shower which up until now has gone without too many problems. However, I'm having difficulty fitting the Warix flange into the top of the hot water cylinder. I've taken out the 22mm pipe from the cylinder but the existing nut is proving extremely difficult to take out.

Have you got any suggestions as to how I can loosen the nut, it seems well and truly stuck and am worried that I may damage the tank using too much force.

Many thanks for your help.

Steve

Hi Steve

This is what you are trying to remove:

only tip I can think of is that it often helps if you try tightening the nut even more before trying to unscrew it. But don't despair if you have to give up on it - you can still connect into the cylinder using an Essex flange, where you cut a new hole.

keep the cylinder nearly full and use a wooden hammer to knock the spanner round, worked for me.

Thanks for your posts. In the end I borrowed a 32mm ratchet set used for taking alloy wheel nut's off. Worked first time.

Once again thank you.
