I have previously used some stuff called "repair plaster". It was available ready to use in tubs from at least one of the popular DIY sheds and was blue and very light indeed, much less dense than water, let alone plaster. However it sets almost as hard and smooth as plaster, doesn't shrink or (easily) slump and is probably stronger than plaster in tension/shear. Has anyone anyone any idea what this was called, and whether it is still available?

There are a bunch of ultra light weight fillers about for patching plaster. Typically containing one of a number of type of micro balloons, which makes them like plastering with "fluff" - however once consolidated and trowelled off, they set fast, and don't shrink or slump.

Thanks. I did get a similar stuff from Screwfix called Everbuild 'Fill and Skim' which was neither as light or as slump-free as the stuff I used before.

I quite like that stuff, you can load it on thicker than they suggest, let it partly dry, then "tamp" it firmly into the hole, then once it's fully dried apply a light covering of it to fill in the "dent" ... have used it for raking out of hairline cracks ... never had one come back.
