Planer/Thicknesser problem

I thought that was the idea--one plate has to be out of alignment to give the depth of cut you want.

He said out of parallel, so the alignment varies from one side of the table to the other.

Not an easy job. I assume the cutter bearing mounts have not been disturbed? so it will work as a thicknesser OK. If not do this first. Then get the outfeed table parallel with the cutter using a clock/dti gauge. last of all set the infeed table parallel with the outfeed table. Reset the knives in the cutter block so that turning the block by hand with a piece of wood resting on the outfeed table and overhanging the gap between the table, the wood is advanced by 1-2mm as each blade passes under the overhang. Best way I know to check final alignment is to plane two board edges asif you were going to edge join them and see if it planing convex or concave.

Set aside an afternoon and use plenty of patience. Stop every half hour and curse the d*****ad who took the tables off in the first place.

I reckon it took me the best part of half a day to do it, Largely by trial and error.
