Pirhana Pine

It's parana pine I think, not the same as the fish that eats you.

It's usually spelled "Parana", but then both timber and fish are taking their name from the same river so it doesn't matter much. It's sometimes described as "Brazilian Pine" in the UK timber trade.

You shouldn't have too much trouble finding it - I know even my local timberyard (Westworld in Bristol) carries it,

It's an Araucaria, so it's no relation to "pines" as we normally understand them. But Southern Yellow Pine will often do as a stand in.

It's also a tropical, so you may wish to avoid it on conservation grounds.

Araucaria araucana is also commonly called The Monkey Puzzle tree and is the only conifer from south of the equator that attains timber producing size in the average climate of the British Isles. Regards Tom

Parana pine is Araucaria angustifolia though, so not the same as the Chilean pine (Monkey Puzzle)
