Fibre washers!

The flange in 15mm couplers is so minute I bought iron couplers. The next problem was finding a supplier of suitable sealing washers. No fibre ones so far although I have a selection arriving Monday.

I suspect I am heading back to lots of tape!

I've used PTFE tape applied like string in lieu of a fibre washer on a tank connector. It somehow seemed more satisfactory than the correct washer.

and sometimes rubber does the job. IIRC one also used to be able to buy cellulose fibre sheet, maybe still can.

I have got some plastic washers which fit over the thread but this is a

*fit and hope to forget* location so worth a bit of care. The taps themselves are serviceable from the front.

I'm not sure what you mean by "15mm couplers". Are you talking about the fitting on the end of a supply pipe connecting to a tap or WC ball valve? If so, the connecting threads are 1/2" BSP rather than 15mm as such. You can get slim fibre washers for these from the likes of Screwfix -

Or am I missing the point?

I have those. Sadly they don't fit over a 1/2" BSP thread. I think they are intended for sealing inside a female tap connector.

John suggested using a 15 to 15 compression coupler and a fibre washer to seal to a parallel threaded socket.

The fitting is a wall mounted bath tap similar to above. The supplies couple in to the casting from below.

:-) I seem to be accumulating a large supply of unsuitable washers!

oops! That doesn't find it. Try searching for Primo modern wall mounted bath filler within the victorian plumbing site.

You can actually get PTFE string designed for "high buildup" applications.

Rocol do a lubricated kevlar string as a modern substitute for hemp plus boss white on taper threads (very good it is too). You could probably use that too. But I have certainly made a string out of PTFE tape too when asked to look at a leaking tap connector, and finding the fibre washer was broken, with only PTFE tape available.

Those taps look as if the input is in the form of 1/2" BSP female threads. Is that so? If so, they're probably expecting to mate with 1/2" BSP male taper fittings which seal on the thread (with PTFE tape) rather than on a flange.

Indeed. Now try and buy some from your average local plumbing outlet:-)

Plain radiator tails would be ok. Then use compression couplers to 15mm copper pipe.
