Interestingly, the active ingredient seems to be Benzalkonium Chloride, which is also the preservative in the eye drops that I have to take :-(

They are probably all just diluted Benzalkonium Chloride.

They are not a substitute for mechanical scrubbing or pressure washing - just a way of killing off the alae/moss and inhibiting the re-occurrence for a longer time.

I bet your eyes are completely moss free then :-)

That guy missed the point that the cleaner is not a substitute for pressure washing or scrubbing. The patio cleaner will kill moss and algae and shift a few things on more delicate patio slabs that a (low) pressure wash may not shift, such as black spot. Benzalkonium Chloride (the active ingredient in most, or all, patio cleaners) is used as an treatment on roofs and patios AFTER they have been cleaned. If used on its own the moss/algea will due off but then has to be washed off by rain and the results of the treatment may not be seen for months.

Obviously you need Paddy O'cleaner round with his pressure washer!

I did mine with a pressure washer a couple of years ago. It's been fine since - and we live in a fairly clean area. I'll save the poisons for when I really need them.
