paraffin smell from gas cooker

This happened to us after caulking windows. Very distinct paraffin smell. The curing silicone + combustion caused the smell.

Possibly because she has a gas hob and the sealant is giving off some volatile sunstances that are then burnt by the gas hob flames causing the smell. Usually happens after painting internally with oil-based paints.

Yes worry. Any change means something HAS changed. Mine did yesterday as Russian sourced gas hit the area. It is high enough n pollutants,several health hazards,it will burn oily marks onto saucepans and eventually cause health issues with need to replace the pans. Move 500miles and hope they have a different supplier.

I would suggest any gas so poluted would not get to supply, but you can get some odd smells if the gas pipe underground has not been replaced and has rusted through, just using the soil to holed it in, usually clay, pollutants in the clay sooner get into the gas. Round here they are blitzing the pipes with plastic ones, and they would not be doing that simply for fun. No idea how old this post is, but the warning serves as much now as it did ten years ago, in my view. Brian

OP may have been using solvent-based paint recently. While this is drying and emitting solvent molecules into the air, using a gas hob will create some nasty smells.
