Painting outside of house

Outside of house is rendered and previously painted. The paint has flaked off in various places leaving some quite large usightly patched. Is there anything I can use to fill these areas (given they are only the thickness of a couple of coats of paint) so they dont show before re-painting?

Not really. Feathering it with filler doesn't look good either. If you don't strip it all off, more will soon drop off.

Stabilising solution is probably your best bet

Mmmm, I have a similar problem. How to strip off masonry paint?

Pressure washer. If it stays stuck, it's stuck... Messy business though, spread tarps below the working area and make yourself water proof.

Scaffolding is cheap and a damn site easier and safer to work from than a ladder. A "zipup" tower might be workable but you'll spend a lot of time shifting it and if there any porches or other sticky out bits of building with wall above that needs access a zipup would be no good, scaffold can be built over sticky out bits.

Thanks for that. Another concern I have is it's stone underneath, in a conservation area. I suppose the planners ought to be told, not that they seem to care that much nowadays.

I'll try a small area first, see how it goes.
