packing tape too sticky

Jun 14, 2004 11 Replies

I've just removed some packing tape [the brown stuff on a roll] from around a metal cabinet I taped shut for a house removal. Now that I have come to untape the cabinet strips of glue from the tape have remained stuck to the metal of the cabinet. Anyone know of a solution for removing the glue?

Thanks

try turps or white spirits.

Try white spirit. If that fails try meths. One of them should do it.

To email, substitute .nospam with .gl

AOL - WD40 will get it off.

Water dispersant and maybe the 40th recipe worked best??

That is exactly what it is - read it one their website I think.

if none of the suggested remedies work - get some eucalyptus oil from your local chemist - that will do it - a very good colvent.

I use lighter fluid, works a treat!
