packing tape too sticky

I've just removed some packing tape [the brown stuff on a roll] from around a metal cabinet I taped shut for a house removal. Now that I have come to untape the cabinet strips of glue from the tape have remained stuck to the metal of the cabinet. Anyone know of a solution for removing the glue?

Thanks

Try white spirit. If that fails try meths. One of them should do it.

if none of the suggested remedies work - get some eucalyptus oil from your local chemist - that will do it - a very good colvent.
