HT lead tracking - or electrode tracking - due to grease / damp or the lead has moved. Does the click sound normal? - sometimes the noise may be from a different location due to tracking.
Aye, the conductors can harden / corrode away and the HT wire drop off the electrode. If it falls in the vicinity of earthed metalwork it may still spark sometimes and light the gas eventually.
Be aware though that the increased air gap puts a greater strain on the HT generator and can cause it to fail increasing the cost of the repair, so don't keep on trying it either fix it yourself or wait for the service guy.

Some will not light if the clock has not been set - is it flashing? Happened to us after a short power cut
Duff thermocouple I suspect. The gas valve will only let enough gas through for a small flame on the main burner, once that has heated the thermocouple the gas valve is opened fully and you get a properly hot oven. The spark generator is no doubt linked into the thermocouple as well and continues to click as it doesn't think it has lit the gas yet.
