The BBC f*ck up everything they take over. This year its the Proms. I tuned in to find a bunch of coons playing what sounded like Jazz. Jazz! At a prom concert?? WTF are they thinking? Honestly I have nothing against coloured people, but this is the second night on the trot there's been no classical music. Don't give me all this guff about 'inclusiveness' - this is the cultural equivalent of ethnic cleansing. The BBC should be done away with forthwith, the ignorant c*nts.
OT: What's with the Proms this year??

Don't know what you're listening to. Nothing like that here. And Mozart Requiem after the interval. Oh, I see. Mozart is 'foreign'.

Abolish is a better one. Abolish the BBC. Yeah, I like the sound of that. I might even move back to the UK and pay taxes if they did that. ;-)

"The Communists are further reproached with desiring to abolish countries and nationality."

" British saxophonist, composer, DJ and bandleader Nubya Garcia is one of the brightest of a new generation of jazz talent, drawing comparison with greats such as Sonny Rollins and Dexter Gordon. Named a ?major voice? by The New York Times, she has devised a brand of ?eclectic, danceable, political jazz? that draws on influences from Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean. Tonight marks her Proms debut."
I suspect that's what he found
Modern jazz - which is pretty dire, played by the new woke generation, which is worse.
And the previous night was indie turntable crap
"Experimental composer and turntablist Shiva Feshareki joins Sofi Jeannin and the BBC Singers for a choral playlist colliding the Renaissance with the present day."
So you are an abolitionist?

The Proms has always had awful music in every programme, as a kind of penance for the audience to go through before listening to something decent.
Once or twice I noticed a programme when there wasn't any horrible modern stuff, but the tickets for those evenings were inevitably sold out months in advance.
Of course! It's beyond all reform now and just a monolithic anachronism appearing more and more out of whack with the modern world. Should have been put out to grass years ago, but it's not too late - and late's better than never. --
"Abolition of the family! Even the most radical flare up at this infamous proposal of the Communists."

Well, what is the matter? I thought the idea was to broaden the aspect and attract new people to these concerts? Life changes and trends go up and down and always have. Was not Quincy Jones on it a few years back? Brian
Completely in line with the original concept of the Proms. To quote Robert Newman, the impresario who put on the very first Proms, along with conductor Henry Wood:
?I am going to run nightly concerts and train the public by easy stages. Popular at first, gradually raising the standard until I have created a public for classical and modern music.?
So are The Rolling Stones classical or modern?
Really?
Classical music is generally held to mean unamplified acoustic music played in ensembles - the lines between folk, jazz and classical are blurred.
Gospel, R & B, blues and mainstream jazz are usually excluded from the classification.
Salt stockhausen et al are not,...
They are pale and male...
Quincy Jones, John Wilson and others of that ilk are calibre are highly-gifted and trained musicians. Their music belongs in concert halls.
Why would anyone want to "attract new people" to classical orchestral concerts by playing music other than that performed by symphonic orchestras?
What would be the point of that?
There are plenty of places where people can go to see pretentious individuals purporting to be "musicians" by playing vinyl discs from a platform.
Modern classics :-)
Everyone knows that socialists believe that women should be held in common.
Its all part of the BBCS desire to extend the reach of its cultural propaganda from twinset and pearls to what we used to call wogs and coolies.
I think "modern" music had a different meaning in those days, and I doubt that it included music hall.
They still wrote "classical" [1] music in the first half of C20. There are a lot of "premieres" of supposed modern classical, but they are rarely performed more than once.
[1] I am using the word in its usual meaning of orchestral, chamber and piano music of a certain style, and not attempting to distinguish it from romantic or baroque.
Yeah, well you could do that without trampling all over the cultural sensibilities of the classical audience in one of the very, very few festivals (out of hundreds in the UK) intended to cater specifically for them. It looks like they're being elbowed-out of the only refuge they have left.
