OT: Thunderbird anomaly

When I open Thunderbird in Ubuntu, it appears there are two windows running (as if mid message, so as I type this it appears three are open).

When I close it, the icon is still there as if it is running, right click and quit does nothing, it just will not go away unless I reboot.

Any ideas?

Maybe it's ubuntu's way of showing the "new mail" status pane?

No, something is broke.

If I shut TB it leaves the icon in the taskbar and I can only restart it by a reboot or using the terminal.

I'm hoping a future update will sort it, it's fairly aggravating. I suppose I could remove and reinstall, see if that sorts it but I CBA setting all the mail and news back up. Maybe there's a way to save my profile?

When all else fails, RTFM. (Not that I have, of course.)

Not seeing it here. TB 78.11.0 / Ubuntu 20.04.

(as I was typing I checked and saw 3 items in the task bar: Main window; this message; about box)

Just tried to reproduce that with Ubuntu 20.04, and TB 78.11.0 64 bit and it seems to all play nice?
