Is it just me, but does every government grant of £x,000 pounds for insulation/heat pumps/boiler replacement immediately result in the price of such work increasing by the amount of the grant...

... and why wasn't council building control involved? Surely that would have kept things under control? oh no, it would have cost money as well...

We have for some months been getting junk phone calls just about every day from "your local energy adviser". As we put the phone down right away I don't know which scam they are promoting but I suspect that it's this one. These calls stopped recently just when news of these problems came out - what an amazing coincidence.

The trouble with socialism, isn't that its bad idea in principle, its just that it requires 100% honest and selfless beings for its correct operation. Humans, unfortunately are greedy selfish little capitalists at heart. And you need to design a system that allows for that. Giving public money to them without there being a way to establish whether or not its being deployed as intended, is typical leftist bollocks.

Its far better to let people keep their money, and spend it as they see fit, in the sure and certain knowledge that they will be a damn sight more thrifty with it than any government bureaucrat.

I get plenty of those too. Also some want to know about my foam loft insulation, which I don't have, of the age of my wall insulation.

The most persistent, presumably because there are available records of solar panel installs, are offers of a "free safety and function check". I simply tell them I am an electrical engineer with a love of spreadsheets, and everything is OK, thanks.

At our previous house, we had loft insulation topped up under some green deal scheme or other.

When we moved, we took our landline number with us. I suspect they are revisiting the green deal numbers list.>

I assume my windows 10 Pro PC is using the Microsoft default in a new tab. It didn't fire up Foxit pdf reader, but I'll try and persuade that to open it.

Have you listened to:

"Save Link As" and when the file is local on your disk, open with Foxit then ?

And that's red tape. Gotta cut down on red tape!!! And business will never take advantage. Will they?

All the schemes advertised in the local FB group have bazza123@gmail addresses. Which hardly inspire confidence.
