Nope, in fact it allows me to keep doing all that in a mains power outage of any length

I don't.

Handy if you have a serious accident that needs medical assistance to avoid you dying.

Fools ran the same line with telephones, letters, radio, TV, cars, bikes etc etc etc when they first showed up.

But the individual is stuck with the system the trust provides.

In fact it does some things much better, particularly allowing you to do most things anywhere and avoids have to fart around with a massive great container of all the individual devices you would otherwise have to use and is MUCH more convenient when you need to include a photo in a communication or even gef real radical and prove that its you using the phone.

But is useless when not at home.

Nothing desperate about it if you just want to pass the time while waiting for something etc.

But the best web pages work even better on a smartphone.

Only the crap smartphones.

And is nowhere near as convenient as a smartphone in your pocket.

More fool you. I only pay $10 a month for unlimited calls, texts and MMSs and 8GB of data a month and I don't even use 1GB a month when I use mobile data any time its useful, even when the broadband is down for a day to two occasionally.

Much more convenient to use the smartphone.

I have a number of watches which I never use anymore.

But is a pain in the arse having on your wrist all the time.

Useless when not a home.

More fool you.

More fool you. Apple Pay is VASTLY more secure than any physical card.

More fool you.

Trivial to ensure that you never run out of battery.

Not if you have a lifeproof case.

So did the telephone, letters, cars, radio, TV etc etc etc and only the stupid don't use those.

In fact the best smartphones are MUCH more secure than physical cards and cash.

Bullshit.

Plenty had their pockets picked and were mugged and conned by spivs and con men.

Plenty had their mail stolen.

The original didnt say extended.

Mine doesn't have an electric meter.

Mine does.

As a matter of interest, which bank?

I've told this before, but I'll repeat it. My phone rang. "This is LLoyds bank here, I'd like to ask you some security questions". I was in a good mood, and I laughed out loud down the 'phone and said "How stupid do you think I am?".

These was a pause (I'd expected a dead line). then "Why, what do you mean?"

So I explained he should have some idea who I am as he'd called me, but I had no idea whatsoever who he was.

Another pause. "You're right, but nobody else has ever said that".

Andy

<Raises hand>

"Please Sir! I have!"

But it was a different bank.

They have of course. Bank security is a joke, as I've found out more than once.
