I ordered a pair of garden chairs online, last Thursday the 21st. The website said "Free delivery in 1 or 3 days for online orders". My order was placed, and the invoice said they would be delivered on June 1st. Even allowing for working days and the bank holiday, that was stretching "1 to 3 days" a little. That day is not good, as I have a late morning medical appointment some miles away, blocking out much f the day. I sent the vendor a message, and they replied that I would be receiving a contact soon from the courier, Yodal, and I could sort it out with them. Yodal is my second least favourite courier, just above FedeEx, which does everything to make deliveries difficult. I tried to contact Yodal, and got the usual mass of links that revert back to other links and back to themselves again, and eventually got to a page which lists the various options for changing deliveries. All of them are unobtainable for my delivery, but it doesn't say why. The best bet now is to call their Help Centre on Tuesday, before I take my car for its MOT. Oh the joys of courier chaos!

Often when a supplier says 1 to 3 days for delivery they don't say how long they take to process the order and it reaching the shipping company. It's like some Ebay sellers saying UK first class delivery, but only after the 10 days it took for them to receive it from China :(
In my experience you cannot rely on the seller to say what day an item will be delivered. They can only give an estimate as its up to the courier to determine when something will turn up. Even with a 3 to 5 days delivery option I've had orders turn up within 24 hours after ordering and visa-versa, paid for 24 hour delivery to have it turn up 3 (working) days later.
In this case, Yodal said they had it and it was in their hands PDQ. I just cannot manage the delivery in any way whatsoever, at least not yet. But I have had similar experiences to yours. I think that the vendor should not have quoted "1 to 3 days for online orders" if there was no way that it could ensure that. Maybe a complaint to the Advertising watchdog is in order.
I contacted the Yodel Chat AI bot this morning. It was extremely unhelpful, implying that I could manage my package's delivery, but there being no such facility available "for my shipment". What's special about my shipment? I will go and do my chores, and hope for the best. The longer it is delayed, the better chance I have of receiving it.
Grrrrr. Yodel have not gone up in my estimation!
<more venting>
I had a parcel "delivered" by Yodel recently. Of course it wasn't delivered to _us_, just "delivered".
The Yodel attitude was "our records show the van was in approximately the correct location - so it must have been delivered to you (or maybe your neighbour, so it's up to you to play hunt the parcel).
The tiny photograph seemed to show the parcel near a white UPVC door in a brick wall. None of the houses in our post code (8 of them) have brick walls.
Finally my wife spotted that, if you turn the photo around, the parcel is actually standing on brick pavers, not leaning on a brick wall.
With this clue I visited every house in the postcode and did find the parcel, some 70 yards away from the correct destination.
The parcel contained live plants, so sitting on a doorstep on one of the hottest days (so far) of the year was just what they needed.
I once came home to find a large parcel next to my front door, with "Frozen Meat" emblazoned on it. It had been dropped there by FedEx, my least favourite courier. I took me ages to find a 'phone number for FedEx, and almost as long to persuade them that this really needed attention pronto. It was addressed to a house with the same name as mine, but in a different road, in a different village, and a different Post Code. There was no 'phone number for the intended recipient. It was picked up, but I don't know what condition the meat was in when it eventually arrived at its correct destination.
I talked to Yodel's chatbot this morning, and was informed that the package would arrive between 11:38 and 13:48, right when I was due to be out. The chatbot confirmed that there were no options for changing my delivery, but could not say this was the case. I managed to talk to a person, I think, who confirmed this. I was informed that, if I was not at home when delivery was attempted, they would try again tomorrow. As my front door is two feet from the road, I said that the package was not to be left if I was not at home. 'She' noted this fact. As it happened, I got home, with a new MOT, just after 11 am. The package was delivered by a Man in a White Van at 12:10.
I has a yodel delivery today. The delivery driver rang the door bell, and then immediately knocked on the door. When I opened the door I was handed a small minimally padded envelope which easily would have fitted through my letter box. No photo was taken. The contents and postage cost be around £4 so the seller didn't send it tracked. I wonder why the delivery driver just didn't post it through my letter box
*We get the same problem despite having a large metal box labelled PARCELS we still get handed packages that would easily fit in.
Don’t always assume it is the delivery company.
I’m waiting for something I ordered off Amazon on Saturday morning. Promised delivery was Tuesday and they showed it as dispatched late Saturday afternoon but no tracking. It transpires, the order wasn’t fulfilled by Amazon.
No sign of item by Wednesday, still no tracking. Did some ‘digging’ and found the actual company. They were closed on Saturday so item couldn’t have been dispatched.
Chase Amazon.
Item supposedly shipped Wednesday, this time I get tracking no.
Evri don’t actually get for another 24 hours- midday Thursday.
So checking Evri.
They, unlike the supplier, get things moving.
Just had a notification it will be here in a 2 hour slot starting around now- about 24 hrs after they received item.
Senior Management has just told me item has arrived, Evri had it 24 hrs 15 min.
The supplier had the order days.
In this case, Yodel was totally responsible for its lack of clarity and options. It didn't even give a suggested time window for delivery, and all the listed options for managing the delivery were unavailable for mine, but without explanation. It was pure luck that I was back home when it was delivered.
