OT: Honda and the EU

If you think that there's a connection between the two you are so misinformed it is pointless discussing it with you

Do you actually believe that everything imported from the rest of the world is off loaded at the dockside and every package examined? For decades containers have been 'sealed' at the point of origin and if necessary checked for custom purposed at the final destination - especially if a regular daily occurrence.

A truck will be waved through on the nod if the paperwork is in order and there is an arrangement to pay the relevant tax.

So you didn't vote when given the chance, now you want another vote? Or have I confused you with a different Tim?

So, are you saying that having to pass goods though any sort of customs interface makes the overall transit quicker, more reliable or more predictable?

We have decided to leave and have given due notice to the EU that we will leave. There is no second chance in A50.

Whether we leave the EU without a free trade agreement in place is entirely up to Barnier and co.

Those 2nd home owners from London don't like getting their hands dirty.

I know exactly what they are

and they have absolutely nothing to do with whether the deal that we get with the EU is acceptable or not (and what our options are if it isn't)

Well from multiple TV appearances The Remoaners, even ones who are ex-government ministers do see to think that.

Or alternatively they think that despite the EU waving goods from ROW through customs "on the nod" they will decide on Brexit day that all the goods from the UK have to be checked whilst all the goods from elsewhere are still waved through.

Well that level of discrimination at ports would be illegal and the Remoaners ought to be complaining that the EU might do it, not holding it up as problem of leaving

Correct (well, I turned up and spoiled my paper).

No, I'd like one I can actually vote on, where we actually have even a rough Idea what we are actually voting for, not being asked to do so blindfolded.

The only people who could vote the first time round were those doing so because they had a cause (however well or badly intentioned), those who believed they *had* to vote one way or another, those who had an axe to grind (who might have voted against something, as my Mrs and daughter did when they cancelled out a couple of racists votes) and those who thought that had it all considered but really didn't (as few could, even now).

Nope. ;-)

So, do the research as far as possible, present the 58 studies into the potential impact of leaving the EU that the government has commissioned *after* asking us to vote on it (???) and make publishing cr*p that the great unwashed are stupid enough to fall for a criminal offence ... and maybe *we* might gain a real and informed consensus and see good democracy in action. The clear 'will of the people', not a near 50:50 split with no real government and a PM who voted to remain.

So, either re-run it but only asking, 'Hands up all those who want to leave' or carry on with the yes / no BS but make it the 60/40 Farige said he would need to see before allowing a Remain win.

Cheers, T i m

And you are one of those who simply have no conception of the true consequences of us leaving the EU. And likely don't care.

I'd suggest you take it up with Honda. Since you seem to know about their business than they do.

Sharing the pot out evenly *is* called socialism.

Honda would be concerned about tariffs on the parts it imports as well as tariffs imposed on the exported finished car.

That is why they chose to have their factory in the UK - free trade within the EU, numpty. Anything which reduces their profitability makes manufacturing in the UK less attractive. Numpty.

So please explain what taking back control of our borders actually meant if nothing is to change?

Or was it just another catch phrase from Nige and his pals which meant nothing - like so many others?
