OT: DIY Hi Fi cases

Hi there,

I am currently putting together a home cinema pc. All the HTPC cases out there leave something to be desired (yes, I'm a fussy b****r), bar one, the Elonex Artisan:

Eye watering price tag aside it is only available as a complete pc, but it got me wondering - if I could get a hifi amplifier or cd player case on its own I could modify it to suit.

So the questions is, does anyone know where I might be able to get such a beast from? I know Maplin did one but that was years ago.

Cheers,

Chris

Richer Sounds...

(it may come with a low end amp or cd player as a free gift pre installed in the case - just take this out before adding your PC ;-)

Where are you ? The MicroDirect shops in Manchester often have some unusual specialist cases which are obviously made to test the market and so never get onto their adverts. Currently they are going through a Apple inspired coloured plastic phase again but they also have some quite nice ali units.

You might have somewhere similar near you.

Wow, their site is so borked it defies belief.

Well obviously testing it on Netscape 7.2 wasn't high up on their list of specifications !! Sort of gets there - usually.

Yeah, if it had been down to their website I would have given up. Someone originally told me about it in PC Pro magazine:

It has been pointed out to them via 'AV Forums' The response was 'we have a new updated web site about to go live any day'

Cheers,

From any council tip, and any secind hand shop. The world is littered with dysfunctional electronic scrap.

I picked up a ghetto blaster once to get some capacitors to repair someones metal detector. Far cheaper than buying a selection of values from Maplins etc.

I rob it now and again for the odd spare part.

Unfortunately that sums up the website testing of most companies nowadays. "But it works on my PC !"
