OT A definition worth remembering.

It's the UK that expects the Scottish power plants to subsidise it to the tune of £40 million a year.

Scotland is part of the UK. How can an entity subsidise itself?

well how much do we subsidise the scottish windfarms?

I was praying for independence so we could have told scotland to subsidise its own bird choppers.

One day Salmond and Sturgeon will get found out for what they are by the Scots.

some of us know already - they're "fishy people"

Yes. on the basis of saving scottish jobs regardless of the costs for the rest of us and yes on the subsidy for, given it's fuel sourcing from overseas and shitty emission controls, a time expired white elephant.

The folly of promoting and subsidising renewables at the expense of conventional despatchable and black start capable generation with a sensible energy mix is coming back to bite the SNP in the arse and the sooner it collapses around their ears the better IMHO.

As far as transmission infrastructure is concerned there is already an ongoing investment of around 1bn quid (National Grid / Iberdola aka Scottish Power ) for a 2.2GW 600kV HVDC undersea ink from Hunterston to Deeside to bring the energy from 'renewables' in Scotland to somewhere more civilised. It's due to go live next year. Just how this shiferbrains Sturgeon expects the existing infrastructure and an additional 1bn quid investment to be provided at reduced terms escapes me.

Pissing about with the use of system costs to benefit scottish generation sources has only one result, the collapse of long term funding of grid infrastructure and a significantly less reliable transmission system. Maybe that's what the brain retarded midget f****it socialist Sturgeon really wants.

Pity they didn't win independence then we could have just cut them off and let their economy disappear down the pan, now the bastards are dragging us down into the gutter again just a few years after we bailed out their debt laden badly run bookmakers ^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H banks.

Scottish windfarms get subsidised at the same rates as English ones.

ALL entities of any real size have internal subsidies.

Of course nothing like that will ever happen with Farage.

At the moment they do, but the greedy bastard Sturgeon is effectively wanting significantly more, and not just for wind turbines but for all generation located in Jockland.

The alternative is for them to consume all the energy they produce and neither export or import. So lets remove the overhead lines at the border and see how their green energy wankfest fares then.
