OT - 9V battery purchase

Boots, especially when they have a "3 for the price of 2" offer. Troble is you end up with more than you want.

Poundland? Might be only one-per-pack, so buy four. Or they have their own alkalines for maybe two-per-pound (Kodak branded, but that's just a name).

Note there's different flavours of Duracell - Poundland sell plain ones, while other places sell Extra Ultra or something. So YMMV, but I've not had a problem.

I buy them in tens from CPC!

I use BABS on ebay. Normally very fast, various pack sizes, and they have a huge range including button cells and the little 12 volt ones used in "wireless" things.

from Rapid E. Yep durecell industrial work out at about £1.10 each I brought some 9V hiwatts too at 22p each, good enough for students.

Hmm. My local 99p shop had only single Panasonic zinc/carbon (red) when I last looked.

Beware! The ones/packs from the ~£ shops can be false economy. I always check a cell or battery before use and, within date, at least half of them were seriously dead. If I have any reason to go there, I get the common three formats from Ikea now - long-dated and seem to last very well.

Duracell Procell seem to be good.

Babs?? = BABZ, I use them regularly. I tend to buy the Duracell Industrial batteries from them (formerly Duracell Procell). The thing to watch is the expiry date with the shorter 'best before' date being cheaper and those with a date of 2019 to 2021+ costing slightly more.

As previously notes, they have been rebranded as Duracell Industrial.

Currently, CPC are doing them for £1.19 each in packs of ten, free postage. GP alkalines are only slightly cheaper. Or GP zinc chloride for

Tesco have been taking the piss for a lot of non-food lines recently.

Alkaline batteries have a long shelf life.

I have never bought a duff alkaline battery from Poundland.

I gave up on Ikea batteries after a batch of AAA's started leaking - a problem I've never had with Duracells.

At last! Spent some time looking for BABS. Looking at CR2032, the expiry date is 2015 or better, so no good. Last week I had to replace the cell in my 8yo MoBo, so got 2 cells from Morrisons with expiry of 2023 - it's not a job to be done every year.
