On Dodgey STB

I've had a Philips one of these since it started, and it still has the original channel names listed - apart from where they've been replaced by current ones on FreeView. Anyone know how to clear them all out - or even delete individually?

Go to Menu "Getting Started" (5) then "Store Channels" (4); it will warn you that this may change your current channel list (which is what you want) so press select to continue. The receiver scans for all current channels, taking about 5 minutes, and presents you with a list in their standard order. Select any channel from the list to view, then proceed normally.

IF it misses any channels or groups of channels (eg one multiplex), repeat the procedure.

You have probably used "Add Channels" to update in the past.

You CAN change channel number positions "Getting Started" (5) Change channel numbers (2), but you cannot delete, only swap positions of channels. You could move "useless" ones to the higher positions, for instance those of "Top-Up TV" if you dont subscribe to them, and shopping channels. However you would loose this customisation next time you do a Store Channels (which is necessary every so often to update with new channels).

Unfortunately, mine asks for the parental lock code - which I've never set as I don't have kids. And even if I had, it would have been one of the codes I use for other things.

I've looked at the manual and all the paperwork, but there's no factory default code - it says to phone On Digital if you loose the code. ;-)

You've still got the card in then. It's not needed anymore so just take it out. If you do want the code though, the default would be the first 4 of the last

6 digits of it's number XXXXX1234XX.

Brilliant - that's done it. Wonder just how it got set?

It's a default thing, all that's needed is to go into the menus and activate it, which can be done by accident. To disable it though you'd need the code, which you wouldn't know.
