I've just got the doors back and they feel a little damp, and have the smell of the chemical they use - not too bad, but present. How long should I wait before I treat the doors?

Give them a few days to acclimatise and you will probably be ok.Oil and wax finishes tend to be breathable, so you won't trap moisture in the wood.

Thanks - did them yesterday, so 4 days after getting them back. Not convinced they were totally dry but look pretty good after 2 coats of hard wax stuff.

In fact it has more of a varnish shell - but I did want to avoid a problem I've had in the past with stripped pine and wax/oil, which is absorbing moisture during humid days, then slowly releasing it for some weeks and a curious dank piney smell. That was using Danish oil.
