Oil based varnish

Apr 27, 2013 4 Replies

Has this been banned by the EU without me noticing it?

All I want is 1 litre of oil based mahogony varnish. I've Googled the sheds but can't find any. All they seem to have is quick drying water based stuff. I've tried this in the past and IMHO it crap!

Help anyone?

Try looking for Yacht varnish.

Seems to be. Also paint and timber preservers. Also crap. I was looking just the other day.

Creosote is also banned from May so get some in if you need it.

For instance International Paints (aka Dulux) eg.

Note that it also contains fungicides which might preclude its use on food prepartion surfaces. I have found this stuff to last very well on extrior wood and protect the wood from UV bleaching.
