Some years ago now, I was in a car which had to make an emergency stop as there was a wind turbine across the road, it had lost a blade, but was not a big one, it had apparently been in the entrance to a farmers field and privately owned for power to a barn. So beware these things are not always made to last!

Interesting. Presumably something along the line can't interpret the emojis, so replaces them with ?. Would that be via a setting on my Agent reader (version 8.00/32.1272), or at TNP's end?
yes, it was your client that stripped them, been too many years since I used Agent to know if there's a setting you could tick to allow it to promote the reply to utf-8

Not my end. I am fairly sure that I send proper UTF8 encoded doodahs. Its more likely that Agent is old fashioned and doesn't do proper font rendering for extended character sets.

Well your headers may well be saying UTF8. But if Agent, whatever that may be, ignores the header then that's the end of civilisation as we know it.

Ah! I finally click, You saw question marks, not thumbs up. All is clear....
I doubt UseNet RFCs allow the use of Unicode. Some severs might accept and render them, but probably not all.
Best stick to ASCII
