I regularly need this at work and can't install utilities there. I simply keep a batch file on the desktop containing the line @DIR /B >dir.txt and when I need to use it I drag it to the open folder, thus creating a copy (works for network drives). Double-click the copy and then delete it - no messy navigating through trees of long directory names from the command line. If you need to do it on a non-network drive, just copy and paste instead of dragging.
