Non setting silicone

Does the non-acetic silicone "go off"? Only I filled some gaps round some windows with it last night and it still hasn't set this morning....

Yes

Only I filled some gaps round

Probably either because of the cold or because the sealant is too old.

It goes bad look for a BON date thats Born on, or when it was made I think 6 months is to old but wait cold affects it if its gooey after a many days then its probably junk , best is to buy it from stores that sell alot of it and always check dates.

When I've tried to use old stuff it's set in the tube.

It will almost certainly take longer in cold weather. Most such things do. Does it say anything in the instructions?

Instructions? Don't be silly. :o)

(I'll look.)

;-) Most glues etc do give a temperature range for setting. And it's been v cold here - so probably worse where you are.

+5 to +40 deg C

That likely accounts for it. And it is actually setting, just very, very slowly.

That sounds very similar to a problem I have been having ;-)

They say it will warm up at the end of the week. Hasn't been above 5C here all day. And that's inside. ;-)

You'll find that playing a hair drier on it will speed things up considerably. Usually you need to allow silicone 24 hours to go fully off at normal temperatures, say 15C but at close to freezing it'll be much longer even when the stuff is from a fresh tube.
