Silicone sealant not cured

Hi,

last evening (6-30ish) I sealed the sides of a timber window frame in readiness for painting. I used silicone sealant. I then covered the entire window with polythene to protect it from the (correctly) forecast overnight rain.

This morning I took off the polythene and the silicone sealant is still very much 'wet'. The question is, will the silicone cure/dry or have I allowed it to become too damp?

TIA

Proper silicone sealant cures in the presence of moisture giving off acetic acid (unless its the non corrosive stuff). Are you sure its not non-silicone sealant (acylic ?) as I have had some old tubes of acylic sealant (10years + old) that were still fluid but never set.
