No wind, and now, no sun..

I know. I will have to make bigger dials...

The point is that France is alike a big powerstation for all of Europe.

If France goes t*ts up, so does Europe.

And the sun is lower in the sky.

And hamsters-on-methedrine in treadmills..

Very little! The much-vaunted 'Wave Hub' was installed ten miles off St. Ives in west Cornwall in September 2010, with much blowing of trumpets etc. Since then, zilch; nothing; SFA. It's sitting on the sea bed growing barnacles. It's supposed to provide four 'sockets' that developers of various wave technologies can plug into, to act as a test bed for various pilot scale wave energy conversion devices to be evaluated under real and often very aggressive sea conditions (maximum peak-trough wave differences, including max-min spring tide variations, is in the region of sixty feet).

But the only device to have come anywhere near using it was Seatricity,

who towed a device out there a couple of years ago, brought it home after a month, took it out again last summer but brought it home again after 48 hours, and it's still sitting on Falmouth docks. And anyway, Seatricity don't need an electrical connection as their device is only designed to produce pressurised water, that will be piped ashore to drive a turbine, or perhaps a reverse osmosis plant for desalination. The Wikipedia Wave Hub entry on this is totally wrong; why am I not surprised!

Seatricity are just taking advantage of Wave Hub's licence to have devices moored there.

Every now and then the Wave Hub people make another announcement, that so-and-so have booked a berth on the device, just to make people think it's all happening out there, but it's all smoke and mirrors. In reality, nothing of even the teeniest bit of significance has happened in the five years it's been there! £28 million of our money, sitting on the sea bed gathering barnacles!

Things may be happening off Scotland, but I don't follow what goes on up there, just what's local to me.

It happens that The Natural Philosopher formulated :

My lights dimmed and went out for several seconds last night around

19:00, but it may have been a local problem.
