I have Google maps set up as my Satnav in the car. I have sound when outside the car, but no sound inside the car, when driving. I change no settings between the two places (inside and out) Graphic directions are fine. Ideas please.

Is the phone Bluetoothed to the car? Is it trying to use the car's sound system?

Make/model of car?
I have problems with my phone is paired over Bluetooth with my VW Passat's audio system.
The only time it worked was when I was trying to navigate the last few hundred yards to meet up with my sister, she called me and I answered hands-free, again over bluetooth with the phone. At that point Google navigation started talking over our conversation.
I've found no way of getting it to work. I just disable it in the Maps settings: "Navigation" -> "Play voice over Bluetooth".
Indeed it is. Does that mean I can have satnav sound OR hands-free - not both?
There are some settings on my phone in the Google Maps app, under settings / Navigation / including things like "play voice over Bluetooth", "play voice during phone calls"; what are these set to?

I have seen similar, and it was to do with how it paired with the car audio via BT. It seems like it treats communications audio (i.e. calls etc), different from "other" audio.
I can't remember now exactly what tweaks were required. I think I may have done something with the car system, but I note that in the navigation settings on my current phone there is actually an option for "Play voice over bluetooth"
You should have all (inc. music as well), but all sources probably have independent volume settings.
Try turning the car sound system volume up while the satnav is speaking.
Of course this is a chicken and egg situation, but it's like that on mine.
