No Car - Need Petrol

No lubrication? Mine certainly needs it.

Mine cuts about half an acre.

I haven't done any of that to my ride on since it was new in 2001.

Add oil every other spring and replace battery every 5

But blades need redoing every year really and drive belts last only a couple

-- “it should be clear by now to everyone that activist environmentalism (or environmental activism) is becoming a general ideology about humans, about their freedom, about the relationship between the individual and the state, and about the manipulation of people under the guise of a 'noble' idea. It is not an honest pursuit of 'sustainable development,' a matter of elementary environmental protection, or a search for rational mechanisms designed to achieve a healthy environment. Yet things do occur that make you shake your head and remind yourself that you live neither in Joseph Stalin’s Communist era, nor in the Orwellian utopia of 1984.”

I see many people pushing their (small) dogs in what look like kiddies buggies so something like that will carry a gallon or two-gallon container without a problem, surely ?

Take your 5 litre can and get a taxi to/from the petrol station.

Invest in a mobility scooter ?.

Bloke in the village has rigged up a towing hitch and drags his lawnmower behind him while going round to elderly friends to cut their grass.

But you will improve your muscle mass in your legs, bum and back which will be advantageous as you age.

I've got a leaf blower/sucker, it's probably the tool I own which will go through a pair of 18V batteries the fastest (not much longer than 10 minutes on full whack).

Muscle is more dense than fat. More seriously, (unless it's trolling) I don't understand why this thread is continuing with all the daft ideas about using carts up and down a hill on a 2 mile journey ... just use a backpack and the problem is solved.

I forgot to add: it's about 47 hours since you asked the question. You could have moved an awful lot of 5 litre cans of petrol in that time if you'd just got on with it. Even with a leisurely stroll in the daylight you'd have made 4-6 trips. Sometimes it's better to just get on with things than prevaricate and look for a "best" solution - gosh, must remind myself of that every morning ;-)

A STEEP two-mile journey - and for someone who may well be elderly. And its four miles, not two.

Yes, - but it's only up hill for two miles and the chap has said that he has no difficulty walking it.

"I've backpacked general shopping from down in town and it is OK for a couple of Kg"

"OK" is not "no difficulty"; "a couple of Kg" of relatively soft "general shopping" is not 10Kg of rigid petrol bottles digging into your back.

That's probably enough for this thread. Plan A will be a rucksack and a

5L bottle. Thanks for all thoughts given.

A healthy 2025 to you all.

Disability scooter?

Thank you.

For a moment I thought I had something -- but it's not quite what it looks like as first glance:

... but, if a 20l jerry can is full, we're up to about 15kg of fuel plus can - slightly more noticeable than about 4kg of fuel plus plastic container

Anyone who has lifted in their youth a full jerrycan knows that it is not something an elderly person can strap on their back and walk two miles with unless its something they have done all their lives.

Discs and bones degrared and no one wanst spinal problems in old age. DAMHIKT

Me or the Jerry Can? Or both?

22 years ago I bear-hugged a big Trianco oil boiler across then out of the utility room, out of the back door and down two steps - then lowered the boiler carefully on to a trolley. All with a straight back. A bit dodgy in your 50s. I wouldn't try it now. Or might I?

There's no fool like an old fool! (:-{
