news.btinternet.com issues

Anyone else having problems connecting to bt's news server news.btinternet.com ?

Not been able to connect for a couple of days so have set up an account on eternal-september.org which seems to be working (unless you can tell me differently :) )

I post this only because there was a discussion on another group I belong to about btinternet.com email addresses and it seems a bit of a coincidence.

However when I looked at the link and searched for news.btinternet.com one of the replies says there are no changes to news but that there are issues with some IP address ranges and rebooting the router might sort it. One guy said this cured his problem.

Don't personally use BT though.

Andy,

Your post has stirred up some grey cells and I now remember that the issue is the ip address from which you connect. BT have several banks of ip addresses that you may get as re-log in after an outage. I must have had an outage as I see my hub has only been up for 36 hours or so, so I must have one of the bummer ip addresses. Struggling at the moment to find on my hub what my external ip address currently is - but I know that the info is there somewhere !

Thank,

Andrew

Had much the same thing. Apparently they change something every so often, and switching the modem on/off sorts it. Or it did for me a couple of weeks back.

Issue is with BT IP Range, I usually disconnect and reconnect until I get an IP in the range 86.xxx.xxx.xxx

you will probably find that you are in the 31.xxx.xxx.xxx range, might have to disconnect and re-connect a couple of times
