New TV Channel - Made in Leeds

Must admit, I don't understand this new fangled digital stuff, but this channel is now working and I'm intrigued.

Is this channel transmitted with the rest of the channel line up, from Emley Moor or from some other location? If from Emley Moor I guess the rest of the Yorkshire are will be able to receive it?

I don't seem to be able to find anything about it online, apart from the details of where the studio is.

If it's anything like London Live, not worth bothering with. ;-)

It happens that Dave Plowman (News) formulated :

As are most of the channels, but I'm just curious about the method of transmission.

It will be broadcast as part of the new local multiplex, along with QVC and something else I can't remember. Digital doesn't broadcast as single channel on a frequency, it bundles them up into a multiplex of many channels.

Despite driving past their "HQ" regularly, I didn't know anything about this until you mentioned it. Still, if you're launching a tv channel, I'm sure there're many good reasons for keeping that information quiet from your potential audience.

If their content is as good as their website (one page that list their name, their address and the time now), we're in for a broadcasting revolution.

I just turned up their licence application on OFCOM's website. It's so painfully generic, it appears to have been written by a person who would fail the Turing test.

Out local channel is going to be run by Esther Rantzen and the sample schedule looks like an episode of That's Life... Spread out through the whole day!.

Also to the OP the multiplex will be broadcast from a main transmitter site, otherwise your aerial won't be pointed in the right direction. I thing people on relays are sorry out of luck.

I had already found that, none of which answered my questions.

The main transmit aerial is on the side of the Emley mast about half way up. It's a very directional aerial and the tower itself screens it from the south, so there's only coverage towards Leeds. The other transmit aerial is at Beecroft Hill.

In case anyone points you to it, the OFCOM coverage map is completely wrong.

What a surprised. I don't think Offcom know which way is up these days. These are the guys who sent an engineer out here to track down interference witha piece of test gear that had a deaf front end due to a blown mosfet. Brian
