New CH Pump 15/50 or 15/60

Hi all

I am about to have upgrade works carried out on my 1970s heating system and wanted to know whether the pump should be 15/50 or 15/60. What is the choice based on? Volume of heating system Size of pipe work Required speed of system heat up

Can someone help me make this choice please?

TIA

Phil

Go for a Grundfos Alpha, then it's a non issue because it will self adjust.

Even so, there are different Alpha models with different levels of maximum grunt.

Ok, so if not sure, go for the larger one and turn it down....

It all depends on which will do the job, likely either. General rule of thumb is that over 24kW you may need to be using the bigger pump on it's highest setting. However it all depends on the type and layout of the pipework and radiators and the boiler of course.

The pumps don't seems to have much difference in their no-flow pressures (0.5 bar and 0.6 bar) but there is a significant difference in the flow rates when used at, say, a differential pressure of 0.3 bar.
