Am redoing the bedroom completely and was just wondering whether or not to put the new skirting on before or after they come to lay the carpet?

If it is carpet then the skirting will go on 1st
Definitely - otherwise what happens when the carpet wears out in a few years? You won't want to have to rip the skirting off to get at the carpet to lift it, will you?

Before, absolutely definitely. Paint it, too, before the carpet is laid. Ask the fitter to be careful of your new paintwork! This will be much easier - also there's the little detail that the fitters fit to the size of the room, *not* to what the size will be!
