Anyone know where I can get a "Tap Reviver", i.e. the tap mechanism that screws into the tap body, with a metric 24mm*1.5mm thread?
Did Britain go metric twenty years ago and then revert?
I found an old tap in the junk box to effect a temporary repair but the local plumber's merchant says he has never heard of such a thing.
We never went metric. We announced we would aim to go metric.
Then Reagan banned metrification in the USA so we would have needed specials for our largest single export market.
Yes we did - 40 years ago this week! Not completed, admittedly, but nothing to do with Reagan.
No we didn't. A government working group recommended it 40 years ago and things sort of followed from there. There was legislation for decimalisation of the currency obviously but the whole nonsense with changing from pounds and ounces to kg for trading purposes was following a much later European directive and nothing to do with the initial working group's report.
Bu tI still maintain if it hadn't been for Reagan the process would have been completed.
