So why are they all different? ;-)
If type approval only applies to the electronics, the same unit could be built in. If it applies to the enclosure, see above. And they'd all use the same connector if the same output.

Can you still get those 13 Amp plugs that were designed for more than one cable? I had one that was able to accommodate four leads which I used on TV ,AV amp, VHS Video(later PVR) and Satellite receiver . What?s bugging me now is what I did with it as I could use it again.
GH
They're stiil available. I will use them only for light loads - <1A. In a strip, one can be used to have a wall-wart inth 'front' (top if the strip is horizontal) so that it clears the other plugs, then another plug in the one remaining accessible face - so;ves 2 problems in one go. Some years ago I got one from B&Q that had 3 switched sockets on it.
If you were replying to my post it looks like you misinterpreted what I meant.
You seem to be describing a cubed shape adapter and there are many sources,
what I was asking about was one of these.

I have one for my computer (with I think a surge suppressor) but it does have eight sockets.

Get a pile of double wallsockets & associated backboxes, screw them in a line to a strip of wood & wire em up. You get switches on every one & whatever length you want. And if you use leftover sockets from rewires it costs nothing.
And if you want something unusual you can use very old sockets from the 60s - though those I'd put on a 3A fuse not 13A. And clean them up. And clean any accessible contact points including the switch.

What's unusual about those?
Aren't they what everyone has in their bits box?
Owain
He might have the Dorman And Smith type in his bitbox.

Going through some things in the garage today I found a stack of sockets so with the board idea sounds like a winner as individually fitting them to the brick wall and in a very narrow cupboard would be a pain.
Thanks all
they've all but vanished today

We share wall warts between different products. But only our products - we don't want someone else's wall wart used with our device, it might not be up to the job.
We also ship products to more than one country. The mainland Europe, UK, USA and Australian markets obviously have different wall warts just because the sockets are different shapes.
But the same output.
Andy
I have one with 8 switched sockets If you are in S.Wales you can have it for free
It is also wall mountable
Its rated for 13A total
