make your mind up

for joe public

if you don't want crippling bills then forget your fluffy cloud idea about saving the planet for your children while china builds 3 or 4 new coal power stations EVERY WEEK

if you want your fluffy cloud of green bliss then suck it up and go broke, hand over your car keys and get ready for your new cave life in your new eco box eating synthetic s**te that they'll eventually discover causes illnesses and health issues

it's that simple.........and they probably still don't get it

Your hatred towards China shows:

They are one of the few countries with a serous, realistic plan to move away from fossil fuels, and so will shortly be perhaps the greenest country on the planet.

It's also probably driven by their dependence on imported oil etc. They seem to be cutting down on home-produced coal, though with the increases in oil and gas that trend might well be reversed.

Best tackling our own fossil fuel usage, that of the USA and Germany before criticising China on their energy policies, at least.

Good on China clamping down on lunatic muslims. Ninety percent of uyghurs live an unfettered existance, but there are also many radicals dictated to by a ruthless religion.

No they do not and nothing like that either.

But it is far from clear how much of that plan will actually be achieved.

BULLSHIT.

They use f*ck all oil for power generation.

My guess (and I have seen nothing to contradict it) is that these setbacks are simply the fallout of a global level plan to accelerate the 'evolution' of western economies to the tertiary sector (i.e. we cut each others hair, polish each others nails, and sell each other coffee and insurance). Any concerns felt at the national level may be overridden for the great good.

With my apologies for any cynicism radiating from this post.

There is no such plan. It is the inevitable consequence of the much lower cost of labor in china, vietnam, india and bangladesh etc.

All still a very viable part of the economy.

And involves a lot more than that trivial stuff with care homes, the NHS, schools, roads, houses etc etc etc.

I don't deny the purely economic causes (we have only our human nature to blame for that), but there is nothing inevitable about ESG.

If you're being ironic, then I think I agree with you; but this is drifting somewhat from the OP.

Nothing to do with human nature, it always makes sense to do things the best value way with everything because that is what produces the best standard of living.

Fraid so. The alternative is rabid protectionism and that doesn't ever work.

No I am not.

It was a comment on your claim, nothing to do with the OP.

I don't think its cut and dried as much as you suggest. I noticed that they claim to be making good progress on carbon store systems like coal and oil, so if you can clean the output and grab the Co2 it then becomes a question of what the heck do you do with it afterwards. Oh and to stop the greenhouse effect we all have to stop farting. Brian

You'd be wrong about that.

Corse they would claim that...

Feed it to plants and have them turn it into wood.

I don't my farts are as pure as the driven snow, and don't you forget that.

And shove a cork up your arse.
