Mains water leak

We hadn't been married all that long - we hadn't had a child all that long - we hadn't had this cottage all that long when I spotted an advert in a local paper for a lathe for sale ... and bought it. =A340. I was well and truly castigated for profligacy by Her-In-Doors.

A week later there was a large puddle of water where the stop c*ck is (well inside the garden boundary). The lead pipe had burst at the coupling to the stopcock and the only way to resolve the matter in the short term was to turn up a suitable adaptor to copper pipe to then connect to the lead.

The lathe paid for itself within a week !!!

Was the leak, perchance, where the hgv had dropped the lathe off?
