We have electric heating (E7) which I supliment with convector heaters during the day/night when the heating is not on if necessary and frankly it does what I want happily . It cost me £1429 for the year last year . The house has no mains gas and is all electric. No coal fires etc either.
OH is obsessive and wants to put in a gas/oil / coal/ ... something else as he says electric is too expensive. His ideas have changed from second hand boilers and tanks (because we couldnt site a tank within the law in our garden easily, not without disruption and upheaval and moving things around significantly and cost....) to running central heating from LPG bottles to a boiler in the kitchen.
Now that isnt exactly going to be a picnic to sort as far as I can see anyway but...... is it legal? Secondly, I read that eco warriors are making it harder and more expensive to use LPG/Oil etc and that new houses will have to be all electric like mine..... and even older ones will need to be electric too with new regs.
Can someone explain simply to me. Will it be cheaper or is my husband suffering from BBC delusions again?
