likely costs - diy job that i cannot complete

Hi,

I am doing a bit of DIY at home but there are somethings that I will not be able to do. I want to be able to get a local builder to do these things for me, but I want to be prepared and not waste time. I also, want to be able to calculate my costs. The following is what i will need.

  1. Floor screeding to 75mm and including insulation and chicken wire to prevent cracking. The total area is roughly 30m2.

  1. Fix plasterboard to concrete walls and skim. The total area is roughly 66 m2.

  2. The ceiling in the room is a bit high so, i want to bring it down using a suspended ceiling. Not the ones like in offices where you have the ceiling tiles, but those using metal channels and plasterboard. Again the rough area of the ceiling is about 32 m2.

Could anyone give me a rough idea of the charges that would be normal for these works? Even a price per m2 as I have another room that needs doing.

Thanks in advance Jo

This isn't going to happen unless you do it yourself. Also, what depth of insulation? What overall depth is there now? Chicken wire isn't worth a proverbial carrot WRT reinforcing anything.

Supply and fit PB and skim level: Approx £9 - £11 per M2

Guestimate of £11 - £12 per M2
