Anyone know where I can buy a metal letter punch set?
It would be for marking a postcode on a pushbike. I'm guessing 6mm would be about right size.

Almost any engineers' supplier or tool shop. However, if it is just for a one-off, you can use a centre punch and build up the characters with a series of dots, in the same way as a dot matrix printer.

Stamps could cause damage. Engraving or etching is more gentle.
Same applies to a database of serial numbers which isn't updated on sale, if you actually thought things through before posting.
Most don't care what happens to an item after it's sold. Nice to know you're so altruistic.
