LED & Fibre Optic X-Mas deco's

She's just dug out a fibre optic santa, purchased a good few years ago for silly money no doubt from QVC. Once again she's lost all the transformers for everything FFS. Same every year. removes all power supplies from all lights, decorations etc etc and mixes them all up in a bag and loses it.

So FibreOptic Santa has a 12v 20w Halogen bulb up his arse. I was wondering if it could be replaced with an LED bulb, whether the light would still pass effectively down fibres and give the same effect and if so, whether a regular wall-wart would suffice or would it need to be a special one?

Cheers Pete

And, as long as the LED is 12V the wall-wart should work exactly the same, or any other wall-wart for that matter, which has the right plug on it. Only if you change the bulb's voltage would you need a different wall-wart. Otherwise, I'd suggest you affix the wall-wart's cable to the Santa, as well as the other decorations, so they stay together and can't be confused in the future.
