Keston

I am thinking about combi replacement.

My current Worcester Heatslave is in an upstairs airing cupboard and is ventilated from the loft space. CORGI often comment on the potential lack of adequate ventilation although it met the regs when fitted.

I am thinking of replacing it with a Keston Celsius 25 and am concerned about the potential cost of changing the flue - my house has a pyramid shaped roof and the flue is a metal one half way up. I was wondering if it might be worth abandoning this flue and going for a horizontal vent / flue through the wall - around 8 feet away.

Any thoughts comments? Any views on Keston and the plastic flues that they can have? Would changing the roof terminal be costly or am I un-necessarily concerned about it?

Keston flues can be very adaptable. Essentially plastic pipe. Look up the Keston site for details. Personnaly I cannot recommend a Keston, mine has broken down too often for taste. Others here have had better experiances with them.

What I would say is that a Keston is quite small. Fairly noisy (but not excessivly noisy) and its flues are very very adaptable.

Whatever make boiler you pick, make sure there is a tradesman in the area who can maintain it, keep spares in stock, and be there for you in an emerggancy.

Keston ,in my area is poorly supported. The local wholesalers do not stock spares and thus every fault needing a spare requires at least 2 days to get the spare. Even then you may also get stiched for a minimum order charge (e.g £15 for a fuse, instead of £2). Think of it,

2 days without heating in this weather.

The C25 is not a combi. So you will have to add a HW cylinder etc.

The flue for tghe C25 is about as versatile as you can get. They run very quietly indeed. However they do need compartment ventilation which is uncommon for modern boiler designs.
