JESUS

To me Christmas is just another holiday period. It has no religious significance, but then I'm not a Christian.

It is usually a time for family get togethers.

They would say they are christians. The one true sect of course.

Just like every other sect.

Jewish Mormons - from Salt Beef City :-)

F*ck 'em, their own creed says they have to turn the other cheek, so just walk all over them and grind their faces into the mud. If they want to worship a dead terrorist it's their lookout, but they have no rights to dictate what anyone says or thinks about their pathetic "belief" in insubstantial fairy friends.

.. for the existence of dragons, but no evidence of any value at all.

I like to see people celebrating the pagan midwinter festival with all the appropriate pagan symbology of green trees, yule logs and the all-important image of the shaman in his hooded coat with his sack of gifts delivered via the smoke-hole of the tent.

What the f*ck has any of it got to do with a dead terrorist who probably wasn't born in December[1]?

[1] Or indeed ever existed.

It's a festival of the turning of the year, significantly pre-dating xtianity and celebrated by various ancient religions.

They just came along and hijacked it

Strangely I agree with every word Steve. Respect.

I'm beginning to regret agreeing with you now...

The coming of the new light and the new growth. It's important.

That's what I celebrate.

I don't care if the arch-bish of calls me a pagan as if somehow that's derogatory. I regard him and his ilk as just another "Erich Honecker" of belief systems.

This thread has become an extremely uplifting experience

I'm quite surprised at how not alone I am (so to speak)

Anyone who works with THINGS as opposed to peoples minds, becomes very aware of just how little effect prayer, a godly life, freedom from sin or anything has on a recalcitrant nail. But a hammer works wonders.

To who? ISP's are barely interested in abuse *of* usenet, it is certainly not their job to police abuse *on* usenet.

To God, presumably. Check your guttering, lightning conductor, etc.

Its OK, my house is protected by a teddy bear ...

But atheists don't claim to be following the laws of a higher power. Christians do - when it suits them.

The winter solstice. That's what happens this time of the year - not Christ's birthday. The old pagan dates have been hijacked by Christians.
