Inherited Bosch Jig Saw

This is pretty old but the blade rotates too freely.

The screw that looks like it should loosen/tighten it, turns seemingly for ever but doesn't achieve anything.

The metal label reads Scintilla SA Switzerland and gives this part number: 0 603 230 003

The (worn) label on the side of the body reads "Bosch".

I would like a user guide/manual before giving it an anaesthetic but I cannot find anything useful on the www.

What would be a good next step?

TIA

It is but a parts list doesn't give enough information. Surgery it is then.

Thanks, Alan

Sounds like the read is stripped. Drill & tap, possibly after welding the hole to fill it. Or bin the thing, jigsaws are not the most useful things IME.

If it is a decent "Blue" Bosch, they they are pretty decent examples, and so probably worth saving.

(IME good jigsaws and the average DIY class machines are a world apart in terms of performance and user experience)
