Ideas of labour cost small plastering job?

I have a small hall ceiling to skim, boards are up and taped. The area is about 5'x 4'.

A plasterer has just said it will be a days work to skim. Think hes having a laugh. How much do you guys reckon for labour? Jobs in Leeds, West Yorkshire.

Cheers.

If he's including getting to and from the site, setting up and taking down access, and a decent skim coat, including making good as necessary, I'd say he's not too far off a full day, and if he's including a labourer for mixing and carrying, then a day's labour all in is a good price.

I expect he has a minimum quote of 1 day. To charge you less he needs another small job to do the same day to make the day worthwhile.

You might find someone who does odd jobs on the weekend for some extra dosh.

As you have not said what his day rate is then I have no idea.

You could just paper it. The skim is optional.

Or you could DIY.

Thanks for the input, all valid points. Just had a price of 30 quid!

Is that for pollyfiller applied with a 1/2 inch putty knife?
