How much to install an outdoor tap these days?

You mean when there is a slight fall on the pipes so that you cannot solder them because you cannot drain the water, or there is no give in the pipework to insert the T piece, or just the good old favourite - the existing stoptap will not turn off:-)?

You need to put the non-return value inside the house - i.e. don't get a tap with one built-in. And have a valve inside the house so you can drain the pipe in the winter. Simon.
