As a ballpark, what should I expect to pay for a service of a "living flame" type gas fire? West Midlands Area

If you want a landlords certificate about 70 quid, otherwise about 30 quid.

I would be well surprised if you could find anyone to do a decent job including cleaning and flue smoke test for £30!
My Kinder Nevada has to be completely removed for the flue test, as I would imagine most living flame fires will have to. It takes long enough just putting the coals back on right so they are (reasonably) stable.

The midlands would probably be cheaper thanhere but then I'm probably not the most margin orientated of fitters.
I'd reckon on £50 (min charge) for a basic safety check. A full service and overhaul would probably take about 60-120 minutes so perhaps up to £80.
