I accidentally got some Unibond roof and gutter sealant onto our charcoal g rey carpet (only a few weeks after we've had it laid) and understandably, m y wife isn't best pleased. I scraped away as much of it as I could, but did n't want to risk trying to get the rest out until I found the proper proced ure. By the time anyone reads this, it will probably be fully 'set' (the in structions say 24-36 hours) which might make matters even worse. Unibond's website describes this product as 'a specially formulated butyl-r ubber sealant designed to fill connections and joints in guttering, downpip es and other roofing applications', in case that helps. I've phoned and emailed the helpline for Henkel, the firm that makes it, bu t can't get a reply. I'd be most grateful for any advice. Thanks.

I'd expect it to do the same to the plastic carpet too. Unless it's 100% wool :)

No. If you claim you'll probably pay it all back & more in raised premiums. And by 'it' I mean they'll price the job at 5x what you could do it for yourself.

That depends on your insurer. The cheap ones undoubtedly do.

That's a bit sad. My Dad got rid of a wasps nest in our garden with liquid nitrogen once. After an hour or so we dug the nest up and popped it in the freezer to make sure the inhabitants were dead (and not just torpid). After a couple of days we got it out and examined the beautiful construction.
