But I like to cut my hair super short and on this clipper the shortest cut is about 2.5 mm, give or take, which is not short enough.

Yes, I have exactly this model for beard trimming, using the plastic extras they supply. It's going to be the two screws on the metal part. But, before trying that, have you tried adjusting using the lever on the side? I've never done either so can't be quite sure. Seems to me (based on no experience of doing it), that the metal screws if loosened would allow the plate to move too much.
The screws shown in that JPEG hold the fixed blade to the trimmer[1], if there is a lever on the side try moving that, it moves the entire fixed blade back, giving a shorter cut.
[1] As the screws fit through holes that are of a slightly greater diameter I suppose you could loosen both screws and slide the fixed blade back then re-tighten . This may not give you enough 'change' and is certainly not how this unit is supposed to be used.
Actually, looking more carefully at mine, I see the lever I mentioned doesn't move the parts as I thought it might, and the two cutting parts are already as close together as is possible. Where I have areas I want no hair, I use the Wahl to get down to near zero length and then an electric shaver to smooth it down to zero length.

On the side of the clippers, opposite the power switch, is a screw which you can turn to adjust the power. Did your clippers not come with a folding leaflet with "instructions for the use and care of"? If not I could scan mine and email to you.
Trimmers are normally limited on min cut depth to avoid cutting the skin. You might well be able to mod one by looking at the blade assembly, but all bets are off whether it bites you if you do.
